The fierce 2018 California fires that caused billions of dollars in property and environment damages, and killed nearly 100 citizens, has come back to hound state’s major power supplier, the venerable Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) utility, that has pleaded guilty to the deaths of 84 people in a wildfires, the deadliest US corporate crime ever successfully prosecuted.
The Camp Fire, the state’s deadliest and most destructive, was apparently caused by its faulty equipment. and hence was not surprising that during the court hearing, the presiding judge read the name of each victim aloud to the company chief executive, and the company will be fined millions of dollars, but unfortunately no-one will go to jail in the politically correct communist state of California.
