Far-right groups are rallying in Portland, Oregon, raising fears of clashes with left-wing counter-protesters, as police is mounting a major operation to keep the two sides apart.

The rally is led by Joe Biggs, a member of the far-right Proud Boys group and former employee of Alex Jones’s Infowars,Proud Boys, a man who has been involved in previous far-right rallies and violent street clashes with communist members of the local Rose City Antifa group, who are staging a counter-demonstration in the city.

A statement on the Antifa website accuses far-right groups of planning “to bring their branded political violence to our streets” and encourages people “to defend Portland against far-right attack.”

 The lawyers of the late Jeffrey Epstein announced that they will carry out an independent investigation into the death of the multi-millionaire, accused of sex-trafficking, and demand video footage from the prison.

His legal team are “not satisfied with the medical examiner’s ruling” that he killed himself in his cell in New York’s Metropolitan Correctional Center:

“It is indisputable that the authorities violated their own protocols”, the lawyers said, also criticising the “harsh, even medieval conditions” in Manhattan’s prison.

Investigators have determined that Epstein had paid money to the inmates’ prison commissary accounts, trying to capture favor with other prisoners, and the New York Medical Examiner’s Office released its official autopsy report on his death on 16 August, six days after he was found unresponsive.

A report also disclosed that Epstein spent several hours locked up alone with an unknown young woman in a private room reserved for inmates and their attorneys a day after the financier was taken off suicide watch.

U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) deportation officers removed a Peruvian man wanted in his home country for aggravated robbe, and On Aug. 12, Ricardo Florencio Pelayo Vilchez was removed from the United States escorted by ERO officers. Pelayo arrived at Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima where he was transferred into the custody of Peruvian authorities.

“Today’s announcement demonstrates our continued commitment to deny refuge to those looking to hide from another country’s courts.Once again, our skilled officers successfully apprehended a wanted fugitive who is accused of a violent crime abroad and sought to hide in the US at an unknown location without admission or parole by an immigration officer,” said Lyle A. Maxar Technologies satellite photos show Chinese armored vehicles parked in a sports complex in the city of Shenzhen, bordering Hong Kong, in what some have interpreted as a threat from Beijing to use increased force against protesters.

Chinese state media has said only that the Shenzhen exercises had been planned beforehand and were not directly related to the unrest in Hong Kong, although they came shortly after the central Government in Beijing said the protests were beginning to show the “sprouts of terrorism”

The pictures appear to show more than 100 vehicles sitting in and around the soccer stadium at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Centre, just north of the Asian financial hub that has been rocked by more than two months of near-daily street demonstrations

The images were released by , a space technology company known to release satellite images of different parts of the world.

Pocatello, Idaho man, identified as Ryan Fitzgerald Dalley, 44, of Soda Springs, was sentenced last week in U.S. District Court to 17 years in federal prison for continuing criminal enterprise and conspiracy to launder money.

Dalley admitted that from September 2013 to October 2017, he acted as an organizer, supervisor or manager over at least five other individuals who conspired to distribute methamphetamine in Idaho and other states.

“When an individual deals in dangerous substances like methamphetamine, they place the entire community at risk,” said Brad Bench, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations, Seattle, WA.

He further admitted that he received substantial income from the sales of methamphetamine and laundered $100,000 in drug proceeds.

Wall Street  suffered its worst trading day of the year, with the Dow Jones index plunging 768 points, as market analysts said Beijing’s latest move was payback against the United States — after President Donald Trump vowed last week to impose 10 per cent tariffs on the remaining $US300 billion of Chinese imports.

After identifying “concrete steps” that China has used to manipulate its currency while maintaining substantial foreign exchange reserves, the US government will engage with the International Monetary Fund to eliminate perceived unfair competition from Beijing, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement released late Monday.

On Monday, China let the yuan drop below 7 per $1 (8 per €1) Monday for the first time in 11 years, which gives exporters a price edge in world markets and lessens the effect of tariffs imposed by the United States.

 According to the department, the yuan’s steep drop gives China an unfair competitive advantage in international trade.
