In a clear sign of the ever-rising power of China as a world leader, one of its radio stations has taken over some of the shortwave radio frequencies once used by the Australian Broadcasting Company in the Pacific region, following the broadcaster’s decision to end shortwave services.
The ABC chose to end shortwave radio broadcasts in early 2017 and state-owned broadcaster China Radio International now uses Radio Australia’s old frequencies while its overseas broadcasting in the Asia Pacific is being reviewed
Claire Moore, Labor’s spokeswoman for international development and the Pacific, said she was not surprised Chinese services snapped up Australia’s old frequencies.
“People in the Pacific were telling us that shortwave was a tried and true mechanism in their parts of the world, they relied on it and they knew about it.
It was always an issue to see if shortwave was available if it was being used and we weren’t using it, that other players would come into space,” she said.
For the young ones that do not remember the cataclysmic events of the last 60 years, shortwave radio was the only way the people behind the “Iron Curtain” can hear the outside world, and in fact any erected dictatorial barrier of suppressing the real news by a never-ending row of tyrants, who have been now replaced by baby-faced New Wolrd Disorder billionaires who control the Internet, and we are about to find the hard way when the dialectics strikes back at our stupidity in case of trouble.

One of the protesters who heckled the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen during a dinner at a Mexican restaurant in DC has been identified as Allison Hrabar, a DoJ paralegal specialist who caught the ire of conservatives and the US Department of Justice (DoJ) that is reviewing her conduct when more than a dozen protesters with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) entered the restaurant Tuesday evening, with one giving a small speech asking, “Secretary Nielsen how dare you to spend your evening here eating dinner when you’re complicit in the separation and deportation of over ten thousand children separated from their parents?”
The protesters were seeking to make a statement against the since-reformed “zero tolerance” policy, which exacerbated the separation of undocumented children from their parents when they were arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), an agency under DHS, and therefore Nielsen.
“If kids don’t eat in peace, you don’t eat in peace,” protesters chanted.

Libyan navy on Thursday rescued 379 illegal immigrants in two separate operations off the western coastal town of Garrabulli, a navy spokesman said.
Libya’s coast guards rescued 237 migrants of 11 African nationalities on two rubber boats 20 miles (32 km) and 36 miles off Garrabulli, some 55 km east of the capital Tripoli, Libyan navy spokesman Ayoub Qassem told Xinhua.
Qassem said the second operation took place 25 miles (40 km) off Garrabulli, and rescued 142 immigrants.
“The boat carrying the migrants was broken, and bodies of three migrants were recovered from the site,” the navy spokesman said, confirming that all the 379 rescued immigrants have been taken to Tripoli’s naval base and handed over to reception centers.
