A single capital murder charge has been filed against the man accused of killing 20 people and wounding more than two dozen others at a Walmart store in El Paso, Texas, a mass shooting US authorities are viewing as a case of domestic terrorism.

President Trump has condemned “racism, hatred and white supremacy” in an address following mass shootings that left 30 dead in Texas and Ohio, and called for mental health gun control reforms, the death penalty for those who commit mass murder and more bi-partisan co-operation over gun laws.

Beijing ordered state-owned enterprises to suspend further imports of US agricultural goods amid the ongoing trade war, after President Trump’s recent threat to slap 10 percent tariffs on another $300 billion in Chinese imports.

Chinese companies have stopped buying agricultural products made in the US, and Beijing is considering imposing tariffs on all US farm goods purchased after August 3, China’s ministry of commerce announced late Monday.

President Trump accused Beijing of failing to meet its pledge to buy “large quantities” of agricultural products from the US despite purportedly agreeing to do so the G-20 summit in Osaka, Japan in late June.

Earlier Monday, the Chinese yuan fell to its lowest level on record against the US dollar amid concerns of another escalation in the trade war, with President Trump accusing the country of deliberately engaging in “currency manipulation” and saying the move would “greatly weaken China over time.”
