A word of warning to you all brave, COVID-19 deniers, who continue to close-talk in bars, taverns, football games and alike: The latest from our ever working scientists is that  the coronavirus cells that causes COVID-19 can live for up to 28 days on surfaces such as mobile phone screens and ATMs — much longer than previously thought — according to a new Australian research experiment. The virus survives on most surfaces for about six to seven days before starting to lose potency. 

“It’s important to know how long this virus can last so we know how often we need to disinfect things and what sort of risk common surfaces pose,” Professor Drew said.

Philippine forces have captured an Indonesian would-be suicide bomber and have accused her of being involved in a “very imminent” plot to attack a town in the country’s south, indicating that her parents were also militants who killed more than 20 people in a suicide attack during a Sunday Mass, and her husband was blamed for a 2016 bombing in which a child was killed.

They were tracked to a house in the southern Jolo town in Sulu province, where authorities found an explosive vest and bomb components, the military’s Western Mindanao Command said.

.About 40 different coronavirus vaccines in clinical trials, with many already in an advanced stage of testing, as the deadly virus spreads easily, making the majority of the world’s population still vulnerable to it, hence a vaccine would provide some protection by training people’s immune systems to fight the virus so they should not become sick.

About 240 vaccines are in early development, with 40 in clinical trials, and nine already in the final stage of testing on thousands of people:

1. Trials of the Oxford vaccine show it can trigger an immune response, and a deal has been signed with AstraZeneca to supply 100 million doses in the UK alone.
2. The first human trial data back in May indicated the first eight patients taking part in a US study all produced antibodies that could neutralise the virus.
3. A trial using viral proteins to develop an immune response is underway.
4. A group in China showed a vaccine was safe and led to protective antibodies being made. It is being made available to the Chinese military.
5. Other completely new approaches to vaccine development are in human trials.

Most experts think a vaccine is likely to become widely available by mid-2021, about 12-18 months after the new virus, known officially as Sars-CoV-2, first emerged.

A man has been arrested over a fatal shooting at rival protests in Denver, Colorado, as local police identified the suspect as 30-year-old Matthew Dolloff, a security guard, while the deceased man was taking part in the right-wing “Patriot Rally”, with law enforcement sources said he was not linked to left-wing counter-protests.

The “Patriot Rally” taking place in Denver was met by counter-protests by several groups who said they were holding a “Black Lives Matter-Antifa Soup Drive”.

The shooting took place in a courtyard of the Denver Art Museum.
