WASHINGTON – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the results of recent enforcement actions targeting removable aliens who have been arrested for, or have pending charges or convictions, for crimes involving victims:
“The aliens targeted during this operation preyed on men, women and children in our communities, committing serious crimes and, at times, repeatedly hurting their victims,” said Senior Official Performing the Duties of the ICE Director Tony H. Pham.
“By focusing our efforts on perpetrators of crimes against people, we’re able to remove these threats from our communities and prevent future victimization from occurring. Through our targeted enforcement efforts, we are eliminating the threat posed by these criminals, many of whom are repeat offenders.”
Data captured from July 13 to Aug. 20 shows that ICE officers arrested more than 2,000 at-large individuals living illegally in the U.S., or who are removable from the U.S. due to their criminal histories. About 85 percent of those arrested by ICE on immigration charges also had criminal convictions or pending criminal charges. Many had multiple criminal convictions and pending charges for crimes committed against victims. (Note: these numbers represent criminal charges and convictions, not individuals. Individuals can have multiple criminal charges and convictions.) Those crimes, just to mention the large clusters, included:
388 convictions and 386 pending charges for assault – including simple assault, battery against family and non-family members and assault against law enforcement;
291 convictions and 216 pending charges for domestic violence;
83 convictions and 64 pending charges for sexual offenses – including rape, sexual assault, indecent exposure and failure to register as a sex offender, and many more.

Department of Justice will highlight a case that has resulted from Operation Legend, a file case today is out of the Western District of Missouri, where the Department launched Operation Legend, in honor of four-year-old LeGend Taliferro who was shot while he slept in his home in Kansas City, Missouri. Since its inception, Operation Legend has yielded close to 1,500 federal, state, and local arrests:
United States vs. Michael D. Moore and Jamahl D. Jones, (two Kansas City men charged with illegal firearms, after armed robberies, armed standoff with police officers)
“Operation Legend is successfully taking armed, violent criminals like these off the street to make our neighborhoods safer,” U.S. Attorney Tim Garrison said.
“It is also important to note that these successes are only possible in great part to the collaborative partnership between federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in support of this initiative.”
Michael D. Moore, 30, and Jamahl D. Jones, 33, each were charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm in a two-count criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Mo. Both were arrested on Monday, Aug. 17, following a brief standoff and foot chase.
According to an affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, Moore was involved in two armed robberies that led to the issuance of the arrest warrant and surveillance.

Russia’s mass produced Su-57 fighter jets are going to receive special protective cloaks to shield them from bad weather and enemy radar detection while they are on their airfields, with delivery set to begin next year, and the cloaks will be made of radar signal-reflecting polymers, with each plane receiving over a dozen separate, specially-fitted covers for its fuselage, wings, cockpit, stabilizers, air intakes, wheels and other components.
In addition to cloaking the plane, the coverings will protect the planes’ external electronics, including antennae, sensors, radar and optical and electronic systems from the elements.
Lt. Gen. Valery Gorbenko, former commander of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Army said that the cloaks will deprive the potential adversary of information such as where the planes are based, how many there are, as well as where and from where they have been transferred.
