Typhoon Lekima made landfall early on Saturday in the eastern province of Zhejiang with maximum winds of 120 miles per hour, although it had weakened from its earlier designation as a “super” typhoon.

A police spokesperson said the roque twister left a “path of desolation” over a large area, as a vortex hit central Amsterdam with awestruck observers filming the incident on video.

The man accused of killing 22 people at a shopping center in El Paso, Texas last Saturday said he deliberately targeted “Mexicans” during the assault, according to police documents.

China’s National Meteorological Center issued a red alert for Typhoon Lekima, as it is expected to make landfall in the coastal areas of eastern Zhejiang Province Saturday, as huge waves hit against the sea shore, causing major flooding

At 8 a.m., the center of Typhoon Lekima, the ninth typhoon of the year, is about 180 miles southeast of the city of Wenling in Zhejiang, with a maximum wind force of 140 miles/hour.

The province shut down multiple entries of local highways and suspended sections of its railway lines. Wenzhou Airport in the province has canceled 92 flights.The province has suspended ferry rides on Beiji island, a tourist attraction off the east coast, and evacuated over 200 tourists there.
