At least 41 people were killed after a Russian plane made an emergency landing and burst into flames at Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow, with videos on social media show passengers using emergency exit slides to escape the burning Aeroflot aircraft.

Two children and a flight attendant were among the dead, and one witness said it was a “miracle” anyone escaped the jet, which was carrying 78 passengers and five crew.

The crew “did everything to save the passengers,” who were evacuated in 55 seconds, the firm said.(BBC)

    President Trump said he will raise tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods, because talks on a US-China trade deal are moving “too slowly”.

    The US president tweeted that tariffs of 10% on certain goods would rise to 25% on Friday, and $325 billion of untaxed goods could face 25% duties “shortly” of additional goods sent to us by China remain untaxed, but will be shortly, at a rate of 25%.

“The fear of a major disaster is mostly over as [Fani] has weakened,” said Shamsuddin Ahmed, director of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The storm also destroyed several houses in the Noakhali district, where a two-year-old child and a 12-year-old girl were killed and about 30 people were injured, but the massive evacuation of millions of people across the two countries saved many more lives.
