At least 23 people died after a tornado rolled through Lee County, Alabama, with children being among the 23 people killed by the twister, as rescuers searched through debris fearing they will find more victims as times goes on.
10,000 people were left without power as night fell, with photos posted on social media showing many homes either flattened or blown away, leading to concerns the death toll would rise.
“Our hearts go out to those who lost their lives in the storms that hit Lee County today,” Governor Ivey wrote on Twitter.

US House Judiciary Committee sent document requests to 81 government agencies, entities and individuals as part of a probe into President Trump and those close to him, looking for things that could be basis for impeachments of federal officials, such as possible obstruction of justice, corruption and abuse of power within his White House, during his campaign, and in his business activities.
“Over the last several years, President Trump has evaded accountability for his near-daily attacks on our basic legal, ethical and constitutional rules and norms,” Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler said in announcing the launch of the investigation.
“Investigating these threats to the rule of law in an obligation of Congress and a core function of the House Judiciary Committee,” he added.
