A one-count information was filed charging Aziz Ihab Sayyed, 23, of Huntsville, Alabama, with attempting to provide services and personnel, namely himself, to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization. Sayyed pleaded guilty today.

Sayyed acknowledged that he bought bomb-building ingredients last year, stated his aspirations to conduct ISIS-inspired attacks on police stations and Redstone Arsenal, and attempted to form a cell to conduct violent acts within the United States. Sayyed admitted knowing that ISIS is a designated foreign terrorist organization.

Between January and June of 2017 in Madison County, Sayyed, a U.S. citizen, obtained and viewed ISIS propaganda videos depicting ISIS forces committing bombings, executions by gunshot and beheading, and other violent acts, according to the court documents. Sayyed shared the videos and expressed his support for ISIS and for ISIS terrorist attacks around the world.

A Phenix City, Alabama, resident named William Anthony Gosha III, a/k/a Boo Boo,  was sentenced today to 30 years in prison for his role in masterminding multiple stolen identity refund fraud (SIRF) schemes numbering over 8800 identities Stolen from the U.S. Army, Alabama State Agencies and Georgia Businesses.

He was convicted of one count of conspiracy, 22 counts of mail fraud, three counts of wire fraud, and 25 counts of aggravated identity theft.

The Turkish military campaign gained control of 221 towns and villages since the “Olive Branch” operation was launched on Jan. 20, for a total of 35% of the villages and towns in the countryside of Afrin, Syria.

 Based on reports from a network of activists on the ground, it appears that the civilians in the city have been severely suffering from the ongoing military showdown in that large area in the northern countryside of Aleppo province near the Turkish border.

Google has unveiled its newest 72-qubit quantum processor, known as Bristlecone, an expanded version of their previous 9-qubit linear quantum processor that uses the same scheme for coupling, control and readout.

“We are cautiously optimistic that quantum supremacy can be achieved with Bristlecone, and feel that learning to build and operate devices at this level of performance is an exciting challenge,” Julian Kelly, a research scientist at Google’s Quantum AI Lab, wrote on Monday in a blog post.

The company believes that Bristlecone will be the chip that helps the internet giant to become the first company to demonstrate quantum supremacy in solving problems that classical computers practically cannot.

On the Bay of Bengal, India’s Andaman and the Nicobar Islands are an isolated group of 572 tropical, some inhabited islands, and one of the islands, Ross Island, is a creepy ghost town, where the remnants of a 19th-Century British settlement chosen as the site of a penal colony for Indian mutineers that now lie in ruins. Abandoned in the 1940s, the camp is being reclaimed by nature. Lavish bungalows, a massive church, ballrooms, even a graveyard, all are in varying stages of dilapidation, being taken over by an unyielding forest, all on an island surrounded by stunning beaches, thriving marine life, rich coral reefs and largely undisturbed primary forests.

Two exhibitions dedicated to China: an exhibition of giant luminous lanterns and another exhibition of Chinese masks named “Happy Heads” opened in Dinant, a small tourist town in southern Belgium.

The two exhibitions aimed to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year of Dog, which fell on Feb. 16 this year, and mark the 2018 China-EU Tourism Year, would run from March 9 to April 2.

“‘EU-China Light Bridge’ activities will further promote Sino-Belgian relations and make Chinese New Year culture known to the world,” said Zhang Chi, charge d’affaires of the Chinese embassy in Belgium at the opening ceremony 

Mayor of Dinant Richard Fournaux said that he hoped to strengthen the ties between China and Dinant and attracts more Chinese tourists.

An immigration attorney named Joel Paul, 45, of Fishers, Indiana was sentenced today to 75 months in prison for defrauding the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and more than 250 of his clients by filing fraudulent visa applications and reaping approximately $750,000 in illegitimate fees. In addition to the prison sentence, Paul is to serve three years of supervised release and ordered that he pay up to $750,000 in restitution to his victims. In November 2017, Paul pleaded guilty to one count each of mail fraud, immigration document fraud, and aggravated identity theft in connection with a scheme to submit fraudulent U-visa applications.

“Immigration fraud undermines not only the public’s faith in our institutions and the legal profession, it also jeopardizes public safety and compromises national security,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Cronan. “Attorneys who commit such egregious fraud on our legal system and their own clients will be held accountable.”

Former GRU officer Sergei Skripal, working under an MI6 code name “Forthwith,” delivered a file of the entire Russian military intelligence telephone handbook to the UK intelligence services, according to sources within the British media.

Skripal and his daughter Julia who were the target of a “nerve toxin” attack this week, was sentenced in Russia to 13 years in prison for delivering MI6 the names of Russian intelligence agents working undercover in Europe, later being pardoned by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, and allowed to move to the United Kingdom.

President Vladimir Putin says he does not care about alleged Russian interference in the US presidential election because the actions were not connected to his Government, a denial regarding the 13 Russian nationals and three Russian companies detailed in a US indictment.


“I do not care at all because they do not represent the Government. Maybe they are not even Russians, but Ukrainians, Tatars or Jews but with Russian citizenship, which should also be checked … maybe they have dual citizenship or a green card … maybe the US paid them for this. How can you know that? I do not know either,” Mr Putin said.

Analysis showed “the bones are consistent with Earhart in all respects we know or can reasonably infer,” he wrote in a journal article.
