Breaking with many unwritten party traditions since Mao’s time when prominent communist were retired stealthily, under Mr. Xi watch anyone who broke discipline has been removed or jailed.

The former head of China’s security services Zhou Yongkang was convicted of a series of corruption charges, including bribery, abuse of power and leaking state secrets, despite being one of his country’s most prominent politicians until Mr. Xi took over, a man who most likely will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Are we witnessing a new “Cult Of Personality” phenomenon in Mr. Xi when leaders get numerous glorious granite statues all over the land, and opponents get into cold, stone clad prisons for years?
