Biodiesel fuel made from recycled gutter oil is now up for sale at a gas station operated by oil company Sinopec in Shanghai, being sold at 5.72 yuan ($0.86) per a liter, compared to 6.02 ($0.9) for standard diesel. The company plans to further expand biodiesel production and sales to fuel city buses, sanitary vehicles, cargo trucks and cargo ships.

Eight people are dead and eleven are seriously injured after a man identified as Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, 29, formerly from Uzbekistan and now US green card holder, plowed his truck down a bike path in Lower Manhattan, striking cyclists and pedestrians, an act treated by law enforcement as an act of terrorism.
President Trump vowed to cancel the immigration lottery program that has allowed people like Saipov to come to the US.

China continues to quietly dig in on disputed islands in the South China Sea, converting the atolls Tree Island, a tiny island.08 square miles in area in the Paracel Islands group into naval and air bases. In another disputed atoll in the Spratly Island group, China has been building runways, leading to accusations that they intend to turn the islands into airbases.
The archipelago is disputed by China, Taiwan and Vietnam, with some sections also claimed by Malaysia and the Philippines.

The owner of several Milwaukee-area gas stations was charged Tuesday with forced labor involving aggravated sexual abuse, harboring an alien for financial gain, and document servitude. Harshinder Bhatia, 58, forced and threatened an Indian national woman to work causing her to believe that if she did not perform such labor and services, she would suffer serious harm. The indictment charges that this crime involved aggravated sexual abuse and was furthered by Bhatia possessing the victim’s passport.
If convicted, Bhatia faces up to five years in prison on the charge of document servitude, up to 10 years in prison on the charge of alien harboring, and up to life in prison on the charge of forced labor.
